I’ve been feeling the need to write a little bit about our state beekeeping association. I’m probably not qualified to do this, because I just got involved a few months ago and have been taking care of the website. “I have a DREAM” of what it should look like and have a little bit of experience. But, like I tell everyone, “I’m only as smart as the knowledge I have.” Bring your thoughts, and ideas, and make it better.
Anyway, did you know that everyone on the Executive Committee is a volunteer? These people love bees, teaching bees, learning bees, breathing bees. Well, maybe not the last one; that would hurt. What I’m getting at, is that without these “volunteers”, we wouldn’t have a Missouri State Beekeepers Association! Take a minute to process that.
Now, I’m not asking for a monetary donation, but maybe just a little bit of your time. What am I saying, money never hurts either!
Our Executive Committe (sounds official, doesn’t it?) consists of a President, Vice-President, Past-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Chair, Regional Directors, State Fair Coordinator, Programs Coordinator, etc. There are a few other positions that could be created to help alleviate some of the pressures and make things easier for everyone. We also have the website and Facebook pages that need constant updating.
This is your call to arms! Get involved, help make a difference, and learn a lot more about bees along the way! Have a Dream, a Vision, and make this Association one that everyone will want to be part of.
Send an email to Clayton Lee (our President) and let him know that you would like to get involved!
